$100 REBATE ALL CROSSFIRE-READY X800 SERIES!!

old and i think repost

btw, it's NOT $100 rebate, you ONLY get the $100 when you buy a x800/850 card THEN buy a crossfire edition card, SO, change your title.

1. Purchase your CrossFire Ready product today...
3. Buy a CrossFire Edition graphics card by September 29th 2005.

CrossFire Ready product...CrossFire Edition graphics card???

So, will actual CrossFire Edition(not just "Ready") graphics cards be available by the end of the month???

Yeah, OK.

I'm sure it won't be, but they will still have to honor it. ATI would certainly hurt their customer relations if they screw the people who bought their cards based on going w/ a crossfire setup and utlizing this coupon...

Its not a rebate its an ecoupon for $100 off a crossfire ready ATI card.

1.Purchase your CrossFire Ready product today
2.Register for your $100.00 USD e-coupon
3.Buy a CrossFire Edition graphics card by September 29th 2005.
4.Mail in the completed e-coupon and the UPC code from your CrossFire Edition graphics card.
5.Receive a check for $100.00 USD by mail within 8 weeks.

While true that you have to buy one then the other... it sounds an awful lot like a rebate to me. That's the only time I've had to wait 8 weeks to get money back for buying something...

What's Crossfire? Is that ATIs version of SLI?

Also, what's the difference between Crossfire Ready and a Crossfire edition products?

That's what I was wondering.

...maybe the "Ready" model is able to be setup in CrossFire mode(?), but only with a CrossFire "Edition" card. That way you can buy the so called "less expensive" CrossFire Ready card, then pair it with the more expensive CrossFire Edition card. This would save you from purchasing two expensive CrossFire Edition card, theoretically allowing you to enjoy higher frame rates and such at a lower cost???

whatever...

From what I understand, if the one of the cards is slower than the other...then the whole crossfire system will operate at the speed of the slower card.

So going cheap on one of the cards can acutally hurt you.

Anyone else care to comment?

Yes, you are correct.

But there's the possibility of stepping up twice. For example, lets say you buy an x800XL cheap. Then later on down the road, prices drop, and you want crossfire, so you buy an x800xt (crossfire edition card/master) for about the same price you paid for the x800XL initially. You get crossfire action of 2 x800XL's. Down the road even further, price drop a lot more, you realize that you can get another x800XT for extremely cheap, and can use that to unleash the full potential of your existing x800XT in dual x800XT crossfire mode. Whether its worth it, i dunno.. but is possible.
