Costco has 100 packs of TDK cdr blanks for $34.99 w/ a proprietary $15 rebate. There are huge stacks of 'em, they are all 'Certified Plus', but most are made in Taiwan, however there are bunches that are made in Japan and are TAIYO YUDEN = about the best cdr money can buy.

I can't find this on their website, I'll have to check some of my local stores. Where are you located?

It doesn't matter which Costco, the rebate should be there. Also, it's not online. It's only a B&M.

W/ blank cds it doesn't matter where they're made.

Cooky let me be the first to tell you that you are wrong. But unlike most I'll point you to a comparison of cdr quality. Although its a couple years old, it's still a good review.

I really think this is personal opinion. I have bought 1000s of those generic/Great Quality CD-Rs from Frys and I have had better results with them as I have with some name brands. I have also tried lots of name brand cds (various manufacturers) and my results either barely met or fell below the result I got from the generic cds

Oh yes it does, Japan cds are the best with TDK, HP, and Fuji being the manufacturers who most commonly stamp their name on them.

The two Costcos buy me (Azusa and Industry CA) don't have the "Made in Japan" TDKs. The only ones they have are Hecho in Taiwan or Mexico.

Yep, Taiyo Yuden.....made in Japan. They can be rebadged by many different major names. Always look for "made in Japan" on the package.....not "made in Taiwan". I spose there's no guarantee that "made in Japan" will always be TY's, however, I've used Imation, Fuji, and a generic that were made in Japan, and were all TY.

That's not to say that there are not others that are good also....Mitsui comes to mind.
