$100 iPod!

According to News.com "The widely reported rumors, which Apple declined to address, suggest that the company will unveil an inexpensive iPod that will cover the end of the market dominated by cheaper MP3 players from Creative, Rio and Dell". I hope this is true. I'll definitely buy an iPod for $100.

If its true, I'm guessing the price is going to be slightly above $100. But a mini iPod does seem like a definite possibilty. Apple needs somthing for the people who can't justify spending $300 for 10GB of music when all they need is 1.5GB or somthing.

erm. old news. this isn't even confirmation on the mini-iPods or anything, its just a continuation of an already well-traveled rumor.

I think I'll wait until MP3 players come with 5GB memory cards. I just don't trust a hard drive, especially in something that portable

I'm hoping to benefit. I need about 256 for the gym, that's all. I don't think I have enough interesting music to fill up 20 gigs and I like to rotate my gym tunes about every 4 weeks.

Let the war begin!

those little stripped down drives are kinda neat. at around 4gb it becomes sorta nice... but i bet that would cost 200. i really want 40+gb🙂 but the low end probably help drive the high end down in price so its kewl.

HDD are more long lasting than memory cards. Flash memory has only a certain number of write/rewrites. These size HDD's are pretty shock resistant. Also, the way a HDD player works is by first reading from the HDD, loading it into a volatile RAM, and then playing from there, so the HDD is only used to load the song. I believe the iPod has 36 MB of RAM for this purpose, so for 128 kbps AAC's, it only has to read once every half hour our so.

Better keep waiting for a long time then.

I'd make a 'short bus' comment, but that's already been used in this thread.

even if it is cheaper it will probably be overpriced for what they give you. Just like the current ipod which is ridiculously overpriced and isn't even the best mp3 player. I can't understand why so many people can justify paying so much for a device when other companies offer better solutions at a cheaper price. I guess everyone is suckered in my the looks.

This of course is your opinion.

I didn't pay to much for my iPod, and I think it is the best MP3 player out right now.

This of course is my opinion🙂
