100 days sober

Some of you may remember my decision to start going to AA. The program is amazing and it works quite well. Today I have 100 days sober!

Please spare the comments about it being a religious organization, because it's not.

I just wanted to let everyone know that my life is much better today without mood altering substances. It wasn't just alcohol that I was imbibing too much, I was also smoking a hell of a lot of marijuana.

If anyone wants to PM me about my experience, feel free.

p.s., FWIW, I hadn't gone more than a couple of days without drinking (except for Army Basic Training) in about 20 years or so.

that is great - i am happy for you! keep up the battle.

The strange thing is, it's not a battle. There have only been a couple of times that I really wanted to drink or get high, but it's been a long time.

OK, I am not trying to be a knee jerk reactionary, but try not to look at it as a battle or something you have to 'overcome'. Just do it day by day, or hour by hour if you have to. And remember there's nothing a good drink can't make worse. Good luck and kudos!

Damnit I already used Bob saget's line from half baked in the painkillers thread.. this would have been better

...let me just say that for some people, it really is a battle. 🙁
