update: 24 hours later, only 1 has died. The rest appear quite energetic. Looks like nearly all of them will make it 🙂
Wow, I'm surprised that one of them died.

So, um.... did you eat it?? 😕

I was kinda bummed that one died... My son and his girlfriend helped me unpack the chicks. You have to dip their beaks in water to encourage them to start drinking. It's possible that one wasn't introduced to the water well enough. But, it's not unusual at all to lose a few chicks. I take every precaution I can to keep them as healthy as possible. (especially because deaths cost me money.)

It was nice that the hatchery tossed in a few extras just in case some died during transportation.

Heheh yeah but I couldn't risk opening the links while at work.

Don't worry, I wouldn't miss tagging something with NSFW (in fact, in nearly 17,000 posts, I don't think I have ever posted a link to a picture that was NSFW)

Cool. I have two broody hens right now setting on guinea eggs.

My stupid guineas aren't laying eggs yet... well - one guinea egg so far. Either that or they're hiding them pretty good. I wanted to raise a bunch more this year (to sell.) If they start laying soon, the timing will be perfect. (since my heat lamps, small feeders, etc. will be freed up when the guinea eggs hatch.)

Where I got them from: here You can check the prices there. And, regardless of eating them, they're still cute when they're little.
If you check at the hatchery site, you can see pictures of:
Delaware chickens (75 of them) considered a rare bird: here
Royal Palm turkeys (11) this page - very sharp looking birds when they're adults.
and of course, the meat chickens: cornish cross
