I got an email today about a place called orderbox - one of these group buying things as best I can tell, but they are offering $100 credit you can use to pay for up to 25% of your purchase at most of the big internet stores.

They have a big ad for the deal on their home page - http://www.orderbox.com

I just signed up and it was fairly painless. I let you know how it turns out.

Sounds intriguing...I signed up too, only to find out that the only category of products they currently support is books. And I'm still not sure what the $100 can be used for.

You have to give them your credit card # and billing addy, btw...

Not a bad deal... Really not a true $100 credit:

"1. What is the New Account Bonus?
The OrderBox New Account Bonus is a program that credits your OrderBox account with 100 OrderBox$. This credit may be used to pay up to 25 percent of any order (excluding shipping and taxes)."

It does require a CC or use of Paypal.

if you don't want to give out your credit card number, use all zeroes as the credit card number. the site accepts it. the following setting worked for me:
card type: visa
number: 0000 0000 0000 0000
expiry date: 01/2002

speaking of PayPal... i'm sick of them... it used to be good until they got big and then they started slapping
more limits, verification crap, and charges. what are the names of better services out there?

Anyone get this thing to work. I too saw that when you right click the icon in the task bar then click on supported categories that it only says books.

Big Bummer if that's all we can buy.

But hey, anyway this is a great find!

Thanks aviris!
