Just built a new system using Epox 8RDA+ motherboard last week.

Today when I copy a CD using CloneCD, I found my system became very slow(mouse cursor moving is so slow). I checked Windows Task Manager->Performance and found the CPU usage is 100%. This is
the reason that system became so slow.

I didn't have this problem on my old system, which
has Epox 8KHA+. It usually only has around 5-8% CPU usage when I Clone a CD.

Anyone has this problem ? and how to solve this ?

My system has the latest driver and BIOS from Nvidia and EPox.

Thanks

Did you enable DMA on your cdrom? controlpanel ->system->hardware->device manager->ide controller->advance settings ->transfer mode (if you're using xp)

nForce2 drivers aren't designed like that - you can't get to those settings under the IDE controller in Device Manager, unfortunately. I too suspect that you need to enable DMA, though I'm remiss to suggest anything other than tinkering with IDE settings in the BIOS.

There are two drivers, the non-WHQL XP "SW Performance Drivers" won't let you change the DMA mode and make all your IDE devices appear to be SCSI. These drivers wreak havoc with burners and Nero. The WHQL certified IDE drivers that are also included in the 2.0 driver pack from Nvidia work like the traditional IDE drivers and work with Nero. :)

Insane3D, you ought to concoct a FAQ about the 8RDA+ for AndyHui to put up :D or at least a thread for stickification.

That's funny, I could've sworn I installed the "real" WHQL certified 2.0 drivers, but I don't have that control screen I've had on previous mobos. I'll try to get the actual certified ones and install 'em.
