100% CPU usage!!!!!???? por que?

My computer is constantly utilizing 100% of my resources, according to the task manager. The "process" that is using those resources is "system". It reads at 100% even when i am not running anything... AND I DONT KNOW WHY!!! 😕 I am running Windows XP Pro SP-1 with 512MB o' memory.

I have a small network at my house. The hub is telling me, through the use of LED lights, that approx. 20-30% of my utilization (out of 100Mbps) is being used, and that my dad's computer is the one recieving the data. when i unplugg both the internet and all other connections from the hub, it still says that someone is transmitting through the hub to that computer. AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY!!!!! 😕

This is the way its supposed to be 😀

Think of your car, when your at a stop light waiting, your dont shut your car off, but it order to keep it running, it still has to be doing something. So it Idles.

Thats what 'System' is doing. Its Idleing your computer 🙂

It sends wait commands to the CPU, so it 'has something to do' when its not doing anything.

Its completly normal. 🙂

As for your second question, even with all network cables unplugged from the hub, and its lights still blinking, I have no clue. Never heard of that one before.
 
Yeah System is using 100% of resources in use but I think you will find if you check the performence tab that the CPU usage will be minimal.
 
There's a difference between "System" and "System Idle Process". If System is using 100% of the CPU time that probably means a driver is sh!tting the bed.

Exactly...the System process is different between the System Idle Process. I'd do the usual checks for viri and spyware.
 
ive check for spyware and virus... but nothing shows up! I know it is the System process that is at ~100%, not the idle processes. This CPU load being at 100% is making the computer MUCH slower on the internet and games etc. What i dont know is why the system process is so high or how i can fix that. rebooting doesnt work either.

If it really is not the "System Idle Process", and is in fact "System", post a list of your hardware and drivers.

edit: In task manager, go to the "Performance" tab, and check "show kernel times" in the "view" menu. If the red is really high, something is probably wrong with a driver.
