Hello Everyone,

Can i just start out buy saying im very fcking pissed right now.
I have build a system that has been running great for a while.
Here are the specs:
San Diego 3700
A8n-Sli Premium
2x corsair xms 1gig
7600gt
250gb hdd

Ok well, i was playing a game when suddenly the sound completly crapped out, everything sounded like a dieing cat. I restated the computer and bam! everything is lagging and was locked in 100%cpu usage. Trying to find a fix or resoultion online, but i found nothing. I RMAed EVERYTHING i hadd bought. ok the system works now, guess what, today i played a game again, the sound crapped out, and the same ****** happens again. Im getting very fcking tired of this. There is no perticular service taking up the 100% it jumps around every seconds, meaning it changes everytime every second. I really dont know what to do. Please someone help me :((((((

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Well i know its not a software problem because i tried several Hdd's on the system. It's still locked on 100%. Also, i should mention that right when windows boots up and shows the windows logo, it starts to lag right there.

Heya,

Yes i tried formatting, using a completly new hdd, i still get the same results. I suspect that the sound card i have been using could have fried something? Maybe the motherboad just cant handle it anymore. So yea, im probably going to rma the motherboard. Any good motherboards suggested? The A8N32-Sli Maybe?

Do you have a local Fry's near you? (When I say local, I mean like a couple of miles)

If so, "borrow" a motherboard, test it out, then return it. See if it fixes your problem.

Also, what game are you playing?

Double check windows process/task manager and watch your processes for a little while. If your CPU is really hitting 100% usage, it will show what it is.

What is the temperature of the CPU? I know if the CPU is too hot, the computer will slow the processor down to try to cool the CPU down. This would show 100% cpu usuage most of the time.

Hey,

I was playing MapleStory, a 2D mmorpg. The problem is, when the cpu is at 100%, it doesn't show just one process hogging it all, the process keeps on changing, meaning its jumping around every second. So not just one process is taking all of it. What i have noticed is that the heatpipe on the mobo gets really hot when its under 100% load. It didn't get as hot before this problem. It stayed really cool actually. Well i believe the motherboard might be the culprit. You guys think a bad soundcard could fry my board in any way? Well i already smashed the sound card and threw it away anyway :)

What kind of soundcard was it? Also next time around I'd consider trying different speakers as well.. I've seen amplified speakers kill a soundcard with a short personally & I bet they could kill a motherboard too.

??? if the pc boots into windows and is stable, how could it be a hardware problem with the motherboard? Try taking out the soundcard and see if it crashes then.

Go download Asus Probe from Asus's website and report back with the CPU temperature.

Hey,

The temperatures measure about 37 C on the cpu aswell as on the mobo. Pretty cool for whats its doing. But like i said, i dont think its a software problem in any way, becuase i tried several hdd's. The weird thing is that when i first built the system, it ran fine for several months. When i found this old yamaha sound card and plugged it in, the system died on my like it did now after about 2 or 3 weeks. The second time i built it, i plugged in the sound card right from the beginning and it died in less then 3 weeks. So i think that the sound card damaged my mobo in some way. And taking out the sound card wont help either. Should i just get a different mobo and see if that works?

If you are installing the same software/drivers on to the different harddrives, then all you are doing is ruling out any individual HDD as a hardware problem. Still could be a software/driver problem.

Oh crap, I didn't realize you had an A8N-Premium...

Well, I guess you could try to switch mobos...

Well i don't know for sure what the actual cause is, but my best bet is to jus replace the mobo and see if the problem goes away.

Hey Guys,

I finally got around to trying out another mobo, and guess what? The system works again. So i never had viruses, spyware, software issues. It was all the mobo. So i guess the sound card did fry the mobo?
