$100 3DS or $180 XL?

I was debating getting a 3DS as I just do not have time for full-on console gaming anymore. I can get a Cowboom level 4 or 5 regular 3DS for $99-105, or a new 3DS XL from about $180 after tax and in-store credit.

I have a DS Lite, and I actually love that size and screen size as I don't think its too small and I feel like for mobile on-the-go gaming, the XL may be too big and not as portable? I also like holding the Lite over my head and playing before going to bed. Is the XL completely worth the $80 price jump if you like the DS Lite... Anyone prefer the original 3DS over the XL?

TL;DR:
Thread name question
Really like the size of DS Lite

Thanks guys!

Wait a little while and wait for the Cowboom to have some good XL prices. I got mine for $130. I would highly recommend the XL over the original.

3DS XL without a doubt.

Edit - the size is a big deal to me. The bigger screen makes a huge difference IMO.

Regular 3ds is easier to carry and for some people a better size to play and hold.

xl is bigger pixels, not more rez.

The XL is more comfortable for me, but I have very large hands. The screens on the XL look pretty bad, IMO, as the pixels are rather large (low PPI). I was also disappointed because it still needs to be about a foot away from your face for the 3D to work properly. I was hoping the larger screen would allow me to place it further from my face with the 3D on, but I can't. Holding it so close is both uncomfortable and makes the low PPI really stand out.

Your mileage may vary, but on the regular the 3D effect never wowed me, on the XL it is much more apparent. You'll be keeping the system for a long time I assume, 80 bucks now will be worth it. The XL is the one to have. And the regular looks too kiddy anyways.

Hands down, 3DS XL, the bigger screen the better, after all, isn't that what counts.

XL, it is better to hold than the smaller 3DS and of course the screen is more easier on the eyes due to its size.

Do you want this for home use, or to have in your pockets? The low ppi stands out on the XL, but games rocking AA look quite good. However, the small one is already close to the size limit to have in my pocket, and an $80 extra hurts.

The normal 3DS may fit better but the 3DS XL has some benefits including longer battery life, bigger buttons and pad and less glare. I also found the 3D to be easier to see on the larger screen. If you're going to have it for six months then save the cash and get the 3DS, two+ years get the 3DS XL.
