In finland the amount of traffic fines can increase with your wealth. NPR reported that some big NOKIA executive was doing about 45 mph in a 31 and got the hundred grand fine. for real. there is a formula that the cops can do with their computers on the spot, by accessing tax records. ouch!!!!!!!!!

Well, actually, if the amount of the fine is a function of your income, paying a big fine is a good thing. It simply means you're bloody rich. Now if only the driver is assessed the fine, then hire a driver, pay his fine and keep the balance.

And like I have said several times: if you have no income and you are caught speeding, you still have to pay the fine. There is a minimium amount you have to pay.
