I've heard great things about those trails [TraumaRN[/b]. *jealous*

4.1 miles on not so scenic paved suburban trails tonight. Complete with a police helicopter circling with the searchlight panning about in the vicinity of my run. Great....

Curious as to what you've heard about these trails? That are certainly beautiful but also pretty treacherous with poor footing and so many roots rocks and sand. Doubly so today because the falling leaves hide most of the danger.

They do a spring marathon and 50K on nearly the same route I took. Avg finish for the marathon is 5 hrs 22 minutes...avg 50k was 6 hr 5 minutes. Definitely not a trail you can go fast on.

I know some trail runners from up there, those trails are fairly technical (as you found out) and quite beautiful (again). I've never been up there to run but given the chance I'd take it. 🙂

Nice. Well if you are ever in southeast Michigan let me know we can run it together.

Ever heard of a town called Covert? We have a customer site there and I could probably find a way to get a trip there next year.

I have. Its about 2.5 hours away on the west side of the state. Much closer than Florida I suppose haha.

However its only 1.5 hours from my family's property in western michigan and that property sits exactly one mile from a trailhead for the North Country trail another beautiful hilly but less technical trail.

*hmmmm* We may have an opportunity for a long trail run together next year.

Tonight I did 7 miles, ran a route I haven't done in a year or so.

13.7 miles were covered, and in those miles I saw 4 deer, lots of black snakes, one rattlesnake, some vultures, and I raced one raccoon. Pretty cool morning.

+10 miles in 50F weather with wind gusts and downpouring rain. Yuck. Not a fun day to train but hard training conditions make for easy race days.

Inclement weather has made ho-hum runs into epic events. For me anyways. I've almost been caught in 2 tornadoes (really) and have been really close to being struck by lightning many times since I moved to FL last year. My wife is not impressed however.

My girlfriend is kind of amused by it. She thinks I'm a bit mental at times. I also tested out my new Nathan hydration pack today. Really like it and despite being soaking wet no chafing from the straps. Color me impressed so far.

6.2 miles tonight. It started raining about .25 miles in and I guess I was wearing the wrong type of shirt because my nipples were bleeding at the end. Ouch.
