5.3 miles at the lake, seems that there is a carnival in town this weekend. I saw carnies putting together a midway while I was out jogging.

Another 127 for me. Jogged the New Orleans marathon last Sunday and was feeling good enough at the end to push the pace just enough to sneak under 3 hours! My wife, who hasn't had much time to train due to her job, ran 4:01, just a few minutes off her PR! Then we went on a cruise and ate and drank way too much. In the name of recovery, of course!

Capt., you drink in batches? Have you tried sipping throughout your runs? I personally get gut cramps if I drink too much all at once while running.

Well, when I pull out a bottle and start drinking, I'll hold it my hand and over 1/4 mile drink it. During races, I'll stop at every other water station and just take a sip.

8.2 mile tempo lastnight. Planned to do an easy run but so many other runners, it made me want to race some of them.

Have you considered getting a handheld bottle so you can drink more regularly. I'm pretty sure that sipping 20oz over an hour is more effective than guzzling it all at once. But, if your system works for you then stick with it, we're all different.

I've thought of getting a camelbak for running like this one - http://shop.camelbak.com/packs/outdoor/triathlon-multisport/l/d/1032_c_123_cl_363 which would make it easy to sip during the length of the run.

B/c when I mountain bike, I wear a camelbak and do sip from it thru out the ride. But kind of feel dorky wearing one running on the road, trail running, it wouldn't be an issue.

But no, what I'm doing is not optimal. I'll try and follow your advice on my next long run and see how it goes.

I use a Nathan Thermal Quickdraw bottle for my road runs. Check it out, it's not available there but it is a good reference.

Nathan bottle at REI

I don't feel dorky at all carrying it around. Now the waist belts? So lame.

I got 6 miles done tonight. Legs are feeling stale with no rest since last Friday.

I thought of buying one of those for when I go running with my dog(the water would be for him). Honestly, I prefer running with nothing in my hands so, it's a belt. I run with this http://www.nathansports.com/our-products/hydrationnutrition/racespeed-series/trail-mix and have an extra amphipod bottle attached in the front.

6.7 miles tonight

6 miles this evening. Was going to run more, but the salmon I ate for lunch had other ideas...

19.1 miles on new trails (for me) at Croom. I met a girl there who has also ran Virgil Crest so that was cool. The trails were awesome, the best I've run on here in Florida.

18 miles, back and forth on the hill section of the marathon course. Now, eating 3 large burritos to make-up for the six pounds I lost from running.

Another milestone run down for me. 5.1 miles tonight. I have never run that far in one go ever. 48 minutes to do it. And that was immediately after working 12 hours in the ER.

Thanks! The only thing holding me back are my legs. Specifically my calf muscles because I run exclusively in barefoot/minimalist shoe. But finally after almost 4 months the muscles are finally getting used to forefoot striking.

If I hadn't worked that 12 hour shift I probably could have went a little faster and a little longer. I don't mean that to be an excuse but I usually walk 3-5 miles just around the department and by the end of the run my legs were feeling that. And even better I'm back at work today for my 3rd 12 hour shift today. No rest for the wicked!

I ran a great follow up to yesterdays long run today. 8.5 miles, lots of sugar sand covered hills to keep the PLE maxed out while keeping my pace low (9:56). It was warm, sunny, with a cool breeze. Absolutely perfect.

4 mile near tempo run in the rain. My legs were hating me towards the end due to working 3 x 12 hour shifts this weekend. Last nights shift was especially busy, barely stopped to sit the last 4 hours and I felt it this morning.
