Heal up Mursilis, race season is coming upon us quickly!

Thanks, I'm trying. The hardest part is being patient and NOT running, which is killing me! I injured the muscle on Sat. and tested it with 4 miles on the treadmill on Tuesday, which just ended up aggravating it. Not so smart on my part. So frustrating.

But the run was great, my knee feels better when I'm running than when I'm walking. Weird.

I get that same effect. I think maybe the running causes the joint to warm up and ease whatever is causing the pain, but that's just speculation on my part.

My trail shoes are minimal (NB MT1010s) and I do half my mileage in them. I understand your predicament, my calves were pretty tight right after I switched to them last summer.

Thankfully my sister is a massage therapist. Its more of a spasm than a strain. She massaged most of the spasm out. Going to just rest it for a few days.

12.2 miles at Lake Louisa today. I found new trails to run and had to last minute jump over a rattlesnake. It was either jump over it or step on it, thank goodness it was still a bit sluggish and didn't strike at me mid air. I got a nice pic of it before it took off.

17 miles. Think I suffered the effect of dehydration today, when I got back to the house, I couldn't put the key into the lock and turn it. Took about five minutes before I could open the door. Feel like crap now.

Didn't get to run this past week due to combination of bad weather and getting slammed at work. Was able to get on the elliptical a couples of times, though. Today, the weather cleared and was able to get out to the trail. Did 13.1 miles at just under 1:37, a personal best for a half.

That sounds pretty serious! Did you take water at all? Be careful out there.

+6 for me. Did some laps at the track while my daughter was practicing with her soccer team. My gimpy hamstring didn't give me any issues, so it looks like I'm back on track for the spring.

Yes, I actually stopped to take pics of the snake and while I was uploading to Facebook (not looking at it directly) it disappeared on me!

Got back on the road today after 5 days off resting my calf muscles. Managed 5 miles outside with my best friend in 32 degree weather with a mixture of sleet, ice pellets, rain and snow and 15-30mph winds. Managed to run a good pace despite the fairly treacherous conditions.

Yeah, I haven't been preparing as well as I should for my long runs. I had a little cereal and tea beforehand and only about 16oz of water. I took 3 10oz bottles of powerade but didn't drink the first one til I was already at mile 10, the second at probably mile 15 and the last one as I got back to the house.

7.2 mile temp run tonight and felt better than I have in a while.

Everyone is different, but I drink 1 20oz bottle of GU Brew (electrolytes only, no calories) in a 15 mile run. But at 15 miles I really start to need fluids and my intake goes up. Weird.

Anyways, another 5.7 miles this morning. Round up this time.

Rock on!! Congrats on a great race.

I did 18 miles on mostly new trails today at my favorite local park. The equestrian trails are far more expansive than I thought and so far most of them are really runnable. No rattlesnake sightings today

7 miles including 4.5miles of hill work with my best friend tonight. Decent pace for hill work did that 4.5 miles in 40 minutes. Black ice almost took us both out a few times.

19 mile long run. Felt great for the first 18 miles and kept on thinking I'm good to go for the marathon but the last mile, my legs got really tired.

No dehydration issues today. Drank plenty last night and in the morning. Had a power gel and 10oz of gatorade at mile 10 then had another 10oz of gatorade at mile 16.

Capt., you drink in batches? Have you tried sipping throughout your runs? I personally get gut cramps if I drink too much all at once while running.

7.2 miles for me today. No time for more, we're gonna go visit some family here in a bit. 2 hour drive each way. Yay.
