Question about flight simulator brings visit from police

By VIRGINIA RAY
Recorder Staff

[Excerpt]

COLRAIN -- An innocent inquiry to a Staples store clerk about a computer
software program that teaches how to fly an airplane by instrumentation
brought a surprise visit this holiday season to a local family from the
state police.

"At first, I felt a little angry and violated" about someone telling
authorities about her inquiry, said Julie Olearcek, a 15-year Air Force
Reserve pilot. "But now that time has gone by, I realize it may take
someone like that, who's a little nervous, who may save the day."
Olearcek's husband, Henry, is also a flier, currently on active duty,
and frequently away from home these days.

About a week before Christmas, Olearcek said the couple's 10-year-old
son, who has flight simulation software and is keenly interested in
learning to fly like his parents, commented that he'd have to wait until
his dad retired to learn to fly by instruments. She went to Staples soon
after and took her son to the office supply store, where he looked
through the available software.

"He was disappointed because there was military stuff, but it was all
fighting stuff, so I asked the clerk, and he was alarmed by us asking
how to fly airplanes and said that was against the law," Olearcek said.
"I said I couldn't imagine that, but, because (the clerk) was a little
on edge ... I left." But "what saves us, is people are paying
attention," she said.

My neighbor has a tick in his left eye. Everybody needs a tracking implant chip that records everything we do.

Judy, the "offender's" mom, is a lot more tolerant than I would have been. Against stupidity, the gods themselves strive in vain." Schiller. If only we could legislate common sense.

Here we have another fine example of a thread title from Dave that doesn't reflect the "facts" of his post.

The first misrepresentation is that the would be 10 year old terrorist didn't ask about the flight simulator software, it was his mother that made the inquiry:

"He was disappointed because there was military stuff, but it was all fighting stuff, so I asked the clerk....."

Secondly this article does not mention anywhere that the 10 year old was questioned by police.

Dave, just reporting the "facts". LOL

BTW Dave, where is the documentation you promised to post regarding your Neon? Why did you agree to provide then not provide it?

By the way, I see JohnGalt hasn't changed his signature. He quotes two lines from Bill Clinton. These lines were delivered on December 19, 1998, after he order an air strike on Iraq. It's the second line with which I have a quarrel. The context of Cinton's statement and JohnGalt's second quote is:

"So long as Saddam remains in power, he will remain a threat to his people, his region and the world. With our allies, we must pursue a strategy to contain him and to constrain his weapons of mass destruction program while working toward the day Iraq has a government willing to live at peace with its people and with its neighbors." [Bold added for emphasis.]

IMO, to extract the first sentence and list it out of context is akin to . . . -- Well, you can decide what it's akin to for yourself. Bill's statement certainly wasn't a call for invasion.

Clinton's Speech Link.

Donna never got me the papers. I don't know her filing system. You can call the Dealership yourself if you want to confirm that so bad. It's Nalley Dodge at Gwinnett place Mall and ask them about the Neon Warranty when sold in October 1999. You should be able to call any Dodge Dealer for that matter one closest to your home.
Others here also pointed out that was Dodge's policy prior to going to the 7/70 just 3 months later for Jan 2000 and that I was "stuck" with the previous Warranty because that was when the contract was signed.

Is it akin to refusing to acknowledge that Iraqis are human beings? He still won't, you know.

Hey Dave, what about the thread title?

Nothing wrong with the Title, the Household got a visit therefore the child got the visit.
There's nothing wrong with it as long as you're an idiot who is either too stupid to post an accurate thread title(s) or is a liar. Personally I vote for the former so here's some helpful links for you: Learn to read.

It's blatantly obvious to everyone else that the child did not get questioned nor did he ask about the software at the store. It's just your usual inability to comprehend rudimentary English.

..and your point is what? At first, I was going to offer you a deal: you post a thread stating that Clinton lied about WMD, which he asserted, and I will edit it...but then I got to thinking; who cares what you think about my signature. Are comments about my "signature" the best you have to offer?

That is exactly that answer I anticipated from the intellectually dishonest attention whore forum moron who cries wolf? that you are.

No, JohnGalt, criticism of your signature isn't the best I have to offer. But to me, it's like a resume (I don't know the ASCII code for the accented e). If the twit applying for the job can't get the resume right, how good will the twit be on the job. A signature appears in post after post. If you like distortion, hit it Colt! But I get the option of pointing out the workmanlike quality of your signature.

Let's start checking how much factual material you and I put up and how much opinion we put up.

Exact words that I was thinking. What are the odds? :)

You know, I read his posts and I can't help but think of D. Mcowen as a stark raving lunatic.

I'm serious. I'm not trying to be rude but it needs to be said.

How he can function in the "real world" is a complete mystery to me. I imagine him as the guy that everyone trys to avoid because he will start raving about some ridiculous trivia with a fevered wide-eyed expression that simply screams fanatic.
