Yikes. i wonder if it was intentional? Kids goof around, could be he had no clue it was loaded, in which case I feel really bad for the kid. But, wtf? How do kids get a hold of a loaded shotgun??

Irresponsible parents. All the facts aren't present in this case, but I can only imagine that whatever happened, it was the parents fault. At least as far as I'm concerned.

People have already said it, you have kids and guns - you keep them locked up. You also teach your kids at an early age, how to use them, tell if their loaded, and put the safety on. I was taught at a very young age the dangers of firearms, and respected them because of it.

amdzen, at what age were you taught to respect guns? And were you taught how to shoot it at that age? I'm just curious on what is a good policy with kids and guns.

This is crazy and scary just like you said but I am just happy I won't ever have children to make the world worst. That way I can't be at fault of making the world worst. To be completely honest, I don't even remember. I was young enough that I can't even recall. I'd imagine it was sometime around 8-9 though. Possibly 10. I know the first gun I shot was a .22 rifle. I will have to ask my dad and see if he knows. I also took a Hunter's safety course as soon as I was old enough to, I think that is around 12 yo.

My dad always kept the guns locked up too.
