Using on-board audio

Often when the computers enters sleep mode, there will be about 10 seconds of audio static or hiss from the speakers. I've gone through the Win7 audio drivers, the current drivers from Realtec, and the audio drivers listed on the Asus mobo page.

Any Suggestions? Or faulty hardware?

I'm not a big fan of the board anyway (very limited audio jack retasking on the back panel), bad Sata port placement when using the x16 PCIe slot, power led blinking during sleep. But my Gigabyte 890gx board doesn't seem to like 4GB sticks with all sorts of stability issues and lock-ups. The RAM Memtests ok and I've tried various RAM and NB voltages.
