i think ps2 outselling xbox 360 today will have a big effect on which console will succeed in 10 years. eventually when blu-ray/dvd disks become more inexpensive to produce, games that have ps2 and ps3 versions in 1 package on 1 disc will be able to really help make converts.

The one i played had low framerates and graphical glitches. I went up on the side of a hill in the game the the graphics started clipping like crazy.

That's a really early build. The retail game is supposed to be much better.

As much as I hate to admit it, I agree with you. I think that Sony will take off within the next few years, with Wii in second and X360 in last. Wii just appeals to so many people it'll sell really well too.

This Christmas I think we can give a more accurate prediction as to how the PS3 will do. The 360 was able to have a slow year w/o competition so there was no harm there. The PS3 however is having its slow first year duing a very strong year for the 360. If MS can keep of this many quality titles the 360 will be a force to be reckoned with.

Maybe because they're nice enough to wait for you to leave until they spend hours in a non-multiplayer game? When my friends are over we only play Wii Sports or Wii Play. When they leave, I bust out my singleplayer titles.

And do you understand the definition of a fad? The Wii has to go "out of style" and tank before it can be a "fad" otherwise it's actually an "insanely popular console that sold strongly throughout it's life". Gimmick? Yes (the controller). Fad? We can't be sure until sales plummet. And so far, they're holding very VERY steady while the PS3 slumps drastically (20k PS3s sold last week vs 75k Wii in Japan) between software releases.

You've got to be kidding me. I owned a wii too, and since i'm not a zelda fan, what other single player is there that's there to play. The controller got lame very fast. and even though that fat guy reviewed that he'd rather press a button than swing a controller, i still bought the piece o crap to try it, and returned it for good.

Square is making a FF:CC for the Wii. I never really dug the GC one though.

FF:CC really wasn't a single player game. And they saddled it with heavy requirements--four GBAs for four people.
But if you had that, the game was a lot of fun.

Nobody anywhere knows what this is, though. Which probably indicates it's either insanely huge, or insanely lame. Either way, if it has anything to do with the PS3, this would certainly get a lot of consoles off store shelves.

The PS3 uses a G70 based graphics card which is inferior to the 360's R500. And although its useless to argue which console is better, the point of this thread is to try and pick which system is going to win the console wars this generation. If you're not here to debate that then well...

Blue Dragon sold well but that game was almost specifically made to target a Japanese demographic. The same thing happened with the Xbox. The Japanese don't care if a console has a gajillion sports games and FPSes. Though neither do I.

What it all comes down to is: the games that each console has will decide the winner. And don't try to justify the PS3 with the graphics, which is a glorified nvidia 6800 because we all just laugh at you like an idiot.

Thanks. Here, some real substance.

1. Something new from Sony, they could go a long way with this game, looking forward with what they can do.
2. Cannot touch Xbox but it is free to play with other people.
3. They do not even use the whole 50 GB so that's not even a real threat.
4. Casino Royale (100,000 Blu-ray movies sold out of the 2,000,000 PS3 sold), numbers don't add up.
5. Elite has it, but you really do not need it.
6. User-replacable, do not need to spend $180 for a simple 120 GB HDD like the 360.
7. The Wii is at a price point that is accessible to casual gamers, which is the market that has the less penetration.
8. The CPU of the Xbox 360 is 3 smart cores, while the PS3 is 1 smart core and 7 dumb cores, so they each have their advantages in calculations.
9. PS2 is still a good console, with the release of God of War 2 it is still going, but that doesn't mean the PS3 will win.
10. You can make that assumption for every console, there is every type of game for every type of person.

My guess is that it would have to do something with "God of War" on the Playstation 2 considering on the bottom of the page it displays the Ps2 logo and states "God of War is a registered trademark of Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc." Just my guess ;-)

I wonder if the Xbox Elite will have the same issues as the PS3 regarding HDMI ? A lot of the HDTV's out there are experiencing problems with games flickering when they use the HDMI cable.

Graphics is an added element, but obviously not the main element. But it is very nice looking, especially if you ARE looking to be an early adopter on high def movies.

Ok, you should probably clarify this. Because who in their right mind PREFERS worse graphics? You can say you're happy w/ 480p, or don't want to sacrifice the price for 720p+ because it's just not worth it... but to prefer 480p over 720/1080p?
