Yea classic mario goodness here.

Hoping for a combo of Super Mario Land and Mario 64.

Totally loved Galaxy 1 and 2 but would like a less grandiose setting.

This looks more appealing than every PS4/XB1 title shown to this date put together for me. Killzone? Yawn. Titanfall? Bleh. Forza? Golf clap. A legit Mario sequel? Yes please!

I do think the PS4 and XB1 will have some great games, but I guess I'm just jaded. It all looks so trite and bland so far. Nothing that reaches out and grabs me. I'm sure it will come, I just have to give it time.

Kinda funny, but it looks like the 3DS is probably having the best holiday season in terms of quality software release.

This. Kept my PS4 launch pre order, but what I'm really excited about right now?

Super Mario 3D World
Zelda Link Between Worlds
Bravely Default

Go Nintendo!

I see those names and I think "video games". Classic fun colorful whimsical VIDEO GAMES.

I see CoD, Forza, etc and I think "oh bore more photorealistic reality simulator PC games controlled by a stick".

Yea..I actually agree with this. I've held off getting a 3DS up till now, but I'm actually excited for mine to arrive now. I figured I'd just get the Zelda and sell it afterwards..but I will more than likely pick up the new SMB game as well. Current console lineup doesn't do it for me..just like last console lineup (which ended up in me just skipping most of it). There are way too many options out there to not wow out the gate. Hell..and i STILL don't have the time to play every game I own...ugh.

The quest for realism and unifying PC and console platforms has taken a lot of the magic out of gaming for me.

It will be nice to play something that is definitively a video game and not a alternate life sim that plays like a second job in drab green and brown hues.

Wow. After the reveal for this game I had entirely written it off as a Nintendo rush job to get something out for the holidays. But after seeing the reviews today - a ridiculous number of 100s and even a strong recommendation from PAR - I think I'm going to have to change my tune. All of these reviews are absolutely lauding the gameplay, which is exactly what I buy Mario games for.

I read that this looked like it was supposed to be the sequel to the 3DS game, and quickly ported to Wii-U instead since it was hurting so badly. Good to see it's getting good reviews though...although it won't sway me to buy one :(

I kept seeing this game and thinking it was just, essentially, a WiiU port of the 3DS game.

Now, I liked the 3DS game. I think it was severely underrated. I thought it was pretty challenging, once you blew past the first eight 'standard' worlds.

But in watching videos for 3D World, and even having watched this video a few times, I just simply can't see any reason to purchase this. It still looks just way too similar to 3D Land. That's not a bad thing, but definitely not enough to justify buying a WiiU. I'll admit that all of these 'Greatest Mario game since Mario 64' reviews have me thinking about it, but it just doesn't look that great in the videos.

The General Toad mode looks like an interesting challenge and I'm aware of some of the gameplay mechanics. I have a friend getting it and he said I could come over and play co-op, so at least I'll get to try it out for myself.

I abused the hell out of Target with the B2G1 deal to build a complete first party library for Wii U. Eg all the Nintendo titles that will stay $59 new and $55 used for the next 10 years without budging like Mario, Pikmin, etc.

Went from no Wii U to a Zelda Wii U and decent library to this being the most anticipated next gen game for me for the remainder of the year. Poor PS4 not going to get any love for months after I 100% Knack and Killzone.

Reminds me I need to finish Sunshine on GameCube but that game is so annoying compared to Galaxy, etc. Esp those irritating coin collection rotating platforms with no hover sub levels...

A very misinformed person told you that

ohh i been putting off a WII u. even though my kids want one. But this...this may just get me to buy it...

There is a bundle out now with New Super Mario Bros U and New Super Luigi U - two 2D mario platforming games with 4-player co-op for $299. Those games aren't as good as Super Mario 3D World, but they are still pretty fun to play with family/friends. Then you can get Super Mario 3D World on top of that.

Or if you wait long enough, I'm sure a Super Mario 3D World bundle will come out.

I disagree with you. Sure, the share some similar aspects. 3D World is a spiritual successor to 3D Land BUT as a name implies 3D World brings a lot more to the table.

Everything is of increase scale. Level size, the overworld map, the number of players, the items, the enemies, the environments. The more you watch the gameplay trailers, the more you see there is. All that is lifted from 3D Land is the core gameplay ideas, i.e. 3D mario in a level environment.

To me, 3D Land felt bland and uninspired, but 3D World is much more exciting. Plus, the controls are superior, giving you even better 3D control similar to Galaxy.

Yeah, so, this game is amazing and fun. They waste no time at all putting you in the cat suit and god damn, it is awesome.
