Here's a good example of why Hollywood has the reputation of being obnoxious liberals. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/2011051...filmfestivalcannesusobamafonda_20110518154556

Peter Fonda is calling Obama a traitor.
"I sent an email to President Obama saying, 'You are a f(expletive) traitor,' using those words... 'You're a traitor, you allowed foreign boots on our soil telling our military -- in this case the coastguard -- what they can and could not do, and telling us, the citizens of the United States, what we could or could not do'."

Fonda, who said he sent the email last week, appears in "The Big Fix" trying to get on to Louisiana beaches to assess the impact of the biggest oil spill in US history, only to be turned away by BP clean-up personnel.

Obama's crime is that he allowed people - BP employees, mostly Americans - cleaning up the beach to deny Fonda his "right" to visit the beach to "assess the impact of the biggest oil spill in US history."

Damned arrogant Liberals! Don't they know that only good respectable Republicans and Tea Partiers are allowed to call President Obama a traitor?

WTF? Where did I advocate destroying ANY American industry? I'm merely saying that thinking that, as a celebrity actor, one is entitled to go wherever one wants, and pitching a temper tantrum when you find that your access is neither more nor less than any other citizen not involved in the cleanup, is both obnoxious and evidence of the entitlement mentality so prevalent among liberals.

Do you really equate recognizing obnoxious liberal behavior with destroying an entire industry?

Who's been running Detroit for the past 50 years? Certainly not conservatives.
It ain't just Detroit. The whole nation has been on a progressive downward slide for the last 100 years. Naturally, things have not gotten better. The answer of course, in their way of thinking, is to implement still more of the progressive agenda, more control over the people.

They still believe that the fundamentals are correct, it's just that they haven't had the right people in charge yet. Well, I think there's a good possibility they're going to get their way. The deck is stacked quite extensively in their favor. The differences between the two parties is minuscule and has been for decades. We're on the fast track and hell bent for the entire nation to be in exactly the same dire straights as Detroit. When the dust settles, when the smoke clears and folks look around at the havoc and the misery progressive policies have wrought, they'll be looking for someone to blame.

Who will that be? Bush, of course. It certainly won't be the fault of progressives. It never is...

Well other neocons on this board have openly said they want to destroy this industry. What you are doing is feeding that. They may not be intelligent enough to recognize that you are only talking about a very small subset of a large industry.

At anyrate you are creating enemies where there really aren't any. No one is forced to consume art. Art gets the least amount of funding from the government, has the least amount of public schooling and is one of a very few industries that is either supported or not based on how well you can sell your product. No one in this country gives a shit about the artists that starve everyday for their art. But as soon as they are successful making a product with that sacrifice now they are evil? Fuck that.

Art in this country is one of the most ruthless capitalist industries we have here and anyone who has "made it" has done so with either a legacy behind them or massive amounts of hard work and sacrifice. And both of those are guarded well by the republicans. So whats the problem?

As a conservative, any liberal blabber mouthing is annoying.
However I can easily enjoy what actors do on screen. Example, Alec Baldwin. Cry baby. Don't care. He's funny.
Tom Cruise. Nutjob. Entertaining. Matt Damon. Weirdo. Great actor.

Maybe we should slow down so you can catch up.

We're complaining about the uber rich, successful actors that decry wealth and capitalism as evil and demand that the rest of us live in a poor socialist hellhole like Cuba. The reason why these actors are obnoxious douchebags is because they are massive hypocrites.

This is pretty much what I hate. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, but before you demand that government restrict my freedom, give up your own. Al Gore owning seven homes (all of which consume power all the time) and traveling in private jets and convoys of SUVs and limos while asking me to give up my little Tracker is simply wrong. It's hypocritical, it's evil, and it establishes the idea that the ultra wealthy are a separate class entitled to privileges and things that the rest of us should be prevented from earning for ourselves.

But his statement is false. And I cant really speak to what al gore does. Are you saying that if people are rich they cant be an advocate for some political idea? There are plenty on the right that would fit that mold.

Within the past 18 months or so, I've ceased going to movies with actors that make a spectacle of their political views. If they think their opinions are worthy of public proclamation they can spout off until they're satiated. Conversely, I have the ability to boycott their films. Which I gladly do.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

An even more meaningless statement than actors flapping their lips, and only shows just how crazily politically partisan you are.

Damn, I knew about the racket of Christian branding, but now we have people who will only purchase goods that have a Fox News seal of approval?

No, same old tone. The tone of the liberal elite. The tone of a progressive. Example below.
