Greetings,

I have 10 mbit cable service.
However, they do not have any cable modems to buy, so I am renting a modem. But rental only does 5 mbit.

I am going to buy a cable modem. Either new or off Ebay (new or used).

So what are the best cable modems out there that serve 10 mbit or more and are say, <$100, but preferably <$75 to <$50.

Suggestions greatly appreciated.
FYI - I have a Zyxel X-550 Wireless Router.

Peace and Blessings

Avoid early Ambit ones. I had the 10 Meg service on NTL/VirginMedia in the UK. The older Ambit would lockup when using P2P at 10 Meg. Virgin Media supplied me with a new modem and its has not locked up since, despite the service increasing to 20 Meg.

I had to push VirginMedia to admit there were problems with the modem. I do not know if Virginmedia are still using that model modem, but if they are not the chances are there will be loads of them on Ebay. VirginMedia do not seem to want the old Ambit modem back I've offered to return it but they never send the envolope to return it in.

If you are going to buy one get a new one, or buy from someone that you can take it back to if it does not work. I would avoid ones on Ebay like the plague.

Thanks Guys!
That is info I needed.

To be honest I did not know they were even going up to 20 let alone higher.
I am in S. MN and I am surprised I can get 10 mbit.

Thanks for the link Modelworks.
