10 least reliable cars - CR

I have a Fiesta as my commuter car. The low end DCT is disconcerting to everyone I let borrow the car who are only familiar with torque converter automatics. It is, unique, but not broken. However, they have sent out warranty extensions (out to 7 years) for them due to some of the issues they've had with them. There are also some programming issues with when and how it shifts that would be really easy to mistake it for slippage if you didn't know what it was doing.

If I thought it was a normal automatic, I would freak out too.

It's a pretty bad transmission from a driving comfort standpoint if you drive certain ways. As far as overall reliability, that has yet to be seen.

IBM forced my uncle into a Chevy Cruze after being able to expense his mileage using his own vehicles for 30+ years. He's nicknamed it the Chevy Curse because it's been in for 4 recalls/issues in the ~8 months he's had it.

I see it's recent model cars otherwise the Yugo would top all, I know someone that bought one, 2 months later it kept popping out of 5th gear while on the highway, the dealer told the person " I can't get any parts, just use your right hand and keep it in gear while your driving it!"

No, it wouldn't top the list because nobody would remember Yugo because the ones that were sold 30 years ago have long since perished.

Think about it, when was the last time you saw a Yugo in real life?

Yea, true, I can't remember the last time I saw one. Being as replacement parts were not available I think most went to the crusher the first time a serious repair was needed and with the Yugo that wasn't long!.

Really; consumer reports... as always their "ratings" do not meet even basic rules for a scientific poll and they do not release their data. They don't even tell you their sample size.

And no I do not own any of those cars.

Jeep... lulz

I wouldn't buy any of the vehicles on that list quite frankly.

Maybe the 4 cylinder thing on the Jeep.

We had two 1996 Cherokees at one time with the 4.0 HO 6 cylinders, sold one with almost 200K on it last year and still have the Sport one working just fine.

I have a Cruze. I've had some recalls, some (re-occuring) warranty issues, and some stuff I hate about it. I frequent the Cruzetalk forums, also.

Not once can I recall anyone having an issue with drive shafts.

Where's the data they used to make these claims? Oh, that's right. They share literally zero information unless you pay them money to see the proof for their claims.

The list of the few luxury cars on that list is a bit misleading. The more features your car has, especially new and unproven features, the more likely something is to go wrong. It is not necessarily an indicator of quality.

This is my thought. I don't place much credence in their results nor JD Power's "initial quality" survey.

I used to rent cars to Jeep owners. Kept seeing the same people over and over and over again. I'd never buy a Jeep of any kind.

I tend to agree on most of the Jeeps, had a fellow worker leased a decked out Grand Cherokee at the time and he had nothing but problems with it.

I personally wouldn't buy a new again these days, the ones we had were one of the best of the bunch.
