Alright, here's the deal. Partly I ask this just because I'm flippant and I have nothing better to ask, but also a friend of mine recently asked me to make her a mix of Jazz songs. To be honest I know close to nothing about jazz and I figured that some of you "refined" (LOL) people out in AnandLand could give me some suggestions.

She said she wanted old and new stuff, but mostly old. So...give me the best jazz songs you can think of, new or old. I just picked 10 because...well, I don't know. Just give me some good jazz songs that I can pick from!! :D

Thanks

Hey, Denis I'd attempt to Translate that song myself but with my terrible french, I don't think it's possible. What would you think of doing it for me? (At least, the French part...some of it's English. Or is the second verse a translation of the first? I can't even tell that. :Q)

Konichiwa,

The English lyrics (instead of the Portuguese ones) are listed in this thread:

Girl From Ipanema Lyrics. The second part is indeed a translation of the first...

and my song sig was rock & roll. This one is Jazz. ;)

BTW, sorry I did not answer your thread about French the other day. I was rather absent from the forums when you posted it and I haven't been able to catch on. You can indeed count on my help anytime.

Hello Dolly (Louis Armstrong)

One of my favorites is Dave Brubeck Quartet's "Take Five".

Good stuff.

:) I was waiting for someone to say either that one or All Blues or So What from Kind of Blue.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far! Keep them coming. :D
