Sorrow - Pink Floyd - Gilmour (I think...)

I totally agree with Comfortably Numb, Eruption, Cliffs of Dover, and No More Tears... November Rain is pretty sweet too, but you GOTTA have some SRV in there man.

Dude, I was gonna post #s 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 10!!

I also like the solo in Metallica's Fade to Black and Yngwie Malmsteen's Blitzkrieg.

Over the Mountian - Ozzy Osbourne - Randy Rhoads
Suicide Solution (Live from "Tribute") - Ozzy - Randy Rhoads

oh and pretty much anything by Stevie Ray Vaughn

<edit>The Explorer - Shotgun Messiah - Harry K. Cody

Little Wing - Stevie Ray
Little Wing - Jimi
Little Wing - Eric
Eruption - Eddie
Mary Had A Little Lamb - Stevie Ray
Star Spangled Banner - Jimi
Stairway to Heaven - Page
Voodoo Chile - Jimi

I think Little Wing is the ultimate test of a guitarist. Stevie Ray Vaughn's version is the best.

My favorite on electric:
Crossroads - Cream - Eric Clapton

on acoustic:
Old Love - Eric Clapton - from the MTV unplugged albm by Eric

🙂

I can sorta play the intro to SRV's version of Little Wing, but it's still really rough. Pride and Joy is a bit easier though 🙂

Anyone notice that today's rock songs lack guitar solos? Is it because guitarists today lack the talent or creativity these days?

I think it stems from the fact that a lot of bands think that guitar solos are stupid. I don't think it has anything to do with creativity or lack of talent.

Guitar solos are very much a 70's/80's thing. You didn't see many solos of the "epic" style since the early ninties, at least not in popular music.

Most of the bands rather play those stupid little guitar hooks. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Creed, for that little guitar part they play every time Scott Staph sings, "Do you wanna take me higher"
