So, if you intend to burn dual-layer, the NEC ND-3500A is clearly the best choice, at only 27 minutes and 40 seconds to fill a DVD+R DL.


On the other hand, if dual-layer leaves you cold, the Lite-On SOHW-1633S or the Samsung TS-H522B are excellent choices. They showed very consistent results for reading and for writing.

AnandTechs own review

I read that when it first appeared,however I don`t agree about the Lite-On being noisy,I do own one and it`s very quiet,also it has yet to make a bad burn,btw the firmware used in both of the reviews is an older version,Lite-On have a newer firmware out,awesome drive IMHO.

I decided on the NEC 3500A from newegg @ $68, and just ordered it.
