I visited Spain for a weekend back in 2002, but only had time for Barcelona. Later this summer we'll be flying to Madrid for 10 days and are trying to map out the cities we want to visit.

The tentative list;

Madrid
Granada
Seville
Cordoba

To those who have been (or to those who live there), is that a good combo?

That's an awesome combo.

Do you speak Spanish? If so, you'll love Spain. If you don't speak Spanish, you'll have a hard time.

Madrid is a great city. I loved it there and wish I could have spent more time there. Enjoy the ham!

Barcelona, Gaudi's last project.

Obviously he has no intention on returning there.

I've been to Madrid and Seville (along with Fuengirola on the Costa De Sol). Both were awesome, but Seville was CRAZY hot in late August 2006 (100+ degrees), they were also still working on the subway system, so public transportation sort of sucked there at the time - but hopefully they at least have some of it running now.

I think my wife and I had the most fun just walking around and exploring Madrid and stopping at the cafes for a beer and the free snacks they serve you. I have some pictures from both Madrid and Seville on my Picasa page if you want to check them out. The park in Seville was also a fun relaxing place to go (and of course enjoy a beer or two) ;)

I don't speak much Spanish and I didn't have any issues. I thought they spoke a ton more english in Spain than they did in South America (at least Buenoes Aires and Santiago).

Get ready to eat awesomely, but also at some interesting hours. However you get use to it and it doesn't feel so odd. I loved spending time in Spain!

I've went to Spain in 2007 and went to all of the cities that you listed. Spain, IMO, is the most beautiful place that I've ever been to. You picked an EXCELLENT combo.

Nice choices. I have been to Sevilla, Rota, Cadiz, Barcelona, Malaga and the Isle de Palma. I'd try to get in Valencia.

Have fun!

Looks good. If you got time, try to hit Valencia and San Sebastian.

The world's top chefs consider the North of Spain the best food in the world.

Go to San Sebastian (highest # of Michellin rated restaurants per population in the world) to start, Pamplona, etc.

The food will blow you away!!

Also, the N. of Spain is verrry green, temperate and super clean, like Switzerland. An amazing community up in the North!

I strongly disagree!!! In the two weeks I spent traveling around Spain, I never had a problem communicating. BTW, what does stupida tourista mean?
