10.6.4 is out

Just updated the backup partition install on my main (DQ6) hack without incident. I'll test drive it for a few days in backup before I update the main install, but so far, so good.

installed it on my dads mbp, and it works just fine. safari 5 was included and it was weird to see that i could enable extensions haha 🙂

Try re-setting PRAM maybe?

First thing I tried.
Finally got it into target disk mode which didn't work and upon reboot it now says I do not have a hard disk.

Cant even eject the disk that is in the optical drive via one of the three methods of ejecting a disk. Time to find a paperclip.

Did MobileMe become free in this update or something? 😀

No, but the update bricked my HD.

Went to Apple and they put a new HD in my computer in 20 minutes.

Got home, went through the OS X setup, signed into MobileMe, and all of my setting returned. Bookmarks, OS X settings, Address Book, application preferences, Dashboard Widgets, all of it.

Hell, it even downloaded my photos I lost from my MobileMe galleries automatically.

It was a high point in an otherwise terrible situation.

Wait... I thought OSX was perfect... you mean it's not?

Heh, all joking aside, MobileMe is pretty awesome.

Well looking at it objectively the bricking of the HD was not due to the update but coincidentally happened when I performed the update.

Not being able to recover any of the data through various methods indicate that there was hardware failure.
