10.4" lcd for car computer

I've spent hours and hours searching for a somewhat affordable 10.4" or even 6.4" lcd monitor for use with a car mp3 computer to no avail. I can of course find a plethora of lcd TVs at these sizes, but no actual 640x480 - 800x600 monitors for less than $1,300 unless they are ripped out of destroyed notebooks. I don't have a problem with using an old notebook display, but I have no idea how one would go about connecting one of these units to current hardware. If I can't find one of these monitors I might as well buy a top of the line CD/DVD deck, but I just don't think it would be right. 🙂 I think deep down everyone desires fullscreen Whitecap and Milkdrop in their kick ass ride. If someone else is in the same bind or has found something I couldn't any help would be great. [edited beyond this point] I should elaborate as to my plans so any helpful souls might have a more specific idea of my needs. I want to build a small nForce box running an older Althon based on whichever WinOS I can eek the fastest boot times out of. I want to use all of the integrated hardware to run the system, and control it via an infrared remote and an IRMan receiver. A touchscreen would be even cooler, but that is even tougher to find as far as I've seen. I intend to run the computer off of a DC inverter/UPS/extra battery combination of some sort with a shutdown/power button on the remote. Rather simple really. The other items are basically details... Any help is much appreciated.
