No one has yet mentioned the inevitable porn film. They won't even have to change the title.

No idiot. Obama had a conversation with that guy and McCain decided to make him a centerpiece of his attacks in last night's debate. Naturally, this has got the media interested and they've duly investigated him. What did they find? He's an illegal plumber who doesn't like to pay his taxes. Do you have a problem with that?

It should be noted that Obama's campaign didn't dig up dirt on this guy. The associated press did this. I think it is rather distasteful personally.

The Democrat Party - we love the little guy . . . except when he disagrees with us. Then we destroy him.

I love the whole "Joe the Plumber" thing. It illustrates perfectly how McCain operates, how the media responds, and the false indignation and crocodile tears that follow from the wingnuts on the right, including on this board.

Let's review:

#1: "Joe the Plumber" approached Barak Obama after a campaign event and lied. He told Obama that the Candidate's tax plan would raise his taxes. In fact, they would almost certainly lower his taxes, but Obama couldn't have known this, and took him at his word. I don't put a lot of blame at the feet of Joe for this, he was just trying to make a point.

#2: John McCain does absolutely no research, no homework, no checking to see if things are as they seem. Just like with his selection of Sarah Palin he launches headlong into his narrative, and and exploits Joe for his own gain. He spends far more time talking about "Joe the Plumber" than he does about anything else in the debate, even reviving the narrative when the discussion turns to health care. McCain was determined to give this "Joe the Plumber" theme legs.

#3: The media had never really heard of Joe before. Yes, they were there when Joe had his initial encounter with Obama, but these encounters happen all the time, and they hadn't pursued it. Just like with Sarah Palin, they scrambled to get the story. Just like Sarah Palin, they got some facts wrong in their zeal to be first.

#4: Democrats, anxious to defend their candidate's middle class tax cut from accusations that it may not be the best for those making $250,000 a year, point out the inconsistencies and are immediately painted as targeting 'poor old regular joe the plumber six pack'

It's a story of depravity, willful deceit, and pathetic demagoguery. Make no mistake, it was McCain that made an issue of Joe, and forced it down the throats of the Democrats and the media. It was McCain that kept talking about Joe after the debate and on the trail. And it is McCain that is to blame for the media circus that now sits on Joe the Plumber's lawn. All because he's looking for an excuse to cut taxes on the rich, and a quarter million dollar plumber sounds a lot better than a quarter million dollar lawyer or investment banker.

Oh, and one more thing, I did wonder for a little while if "Joe the Plumber" was a plant. But now I'm almost certain he's not, and it shows just how out of touch McCain is. Obviously McCain thought there was nothing strange about a Plumber making five times the national average for plumbers (according to government data, which I would assume he has access to.) McCain has no clue what a typical working salary is. The plumber probably could have said he was making $3 million a year and McCain wouldn't have blinked.

Hay OP . I got ta tell ya . Plumbing is a no brainer., Its a scam man. Not alot of skill required. I could do it in my sleep.. Ya ever go to the Ice capades. That freezer they haul around was Built by me at the King Company. The easiest part was the plumbing. If you get a chance to see it . Have a look see. The most skill thats required is welding . Most plumber never weld . Even tho they are required to know how.

As a longtime homeowner, I can assure you that for many of us plumbing is basically a means of pumping your blood pressure up and using all those words mama would was your mouth out with soap for. It looks so simple and can be so frustrating.

Uhh... plumbing is really only difficult for those not mechanically inclined. Sure, there are codes and such that "real" plumbers need to know but as a homeowner doing anything but moving fixtures(even that can be simple) doesn't require much effort. Basically, if you can't replace your water heater.... please don't drive on the road because you probably can't change your own tire.

...just sayin'

The only wild-eyed, frothing at the mouth "cultist" here is you, CAD, and your "Fear and Smear De Magick Neeeegro" cult of the angry loser.

lol, the only ones who are angry losers are you people who have been raging the last 8 years. How dare anyone question 'The One'..... must be a plant... lets dig dig dig into his background while ignoring BHO's (you know -the actual Presidential candidate) background and history....

Meh.... follow like good little sheep if you must...

The AP, the MSM(BHO's surrogates), and the leftwing blogs. I don't think anyone has suggested that Obama's camp did the actual digging, hell we all know he wouldn't have to anyway due to his leg thrilled MSM... ;)

McCain's the one who made an issue of him you hack. Why not try to explain why McCain thinks a man that would pay less taxes under Obama is a useful metaphor for McCain's tax plan?

Seriously. CADsortaBOY, take a step back. What are you trying to prove? People here have made up their minds already, and you're not witty enough to provide a stump-speech to turn them around.

Let us know how you really feel. No one but Butterbean buys your conspiracy-theory distraction shit at this point. Just let it out, man. It will be healthy for you.

Why are you still rooting for the elephant?

Sometimes I wonder if "Joe the Plumber" wasn't a plant in Obama's audience by the McCain campaign designed to give McCain some talking points in the debate?

Haven't you learned yet? If you are against Obama, you are obviously in the pocket of McCain!

Same goes for Bush. Once against Bush, you guys completely lump someone as against the Republican party. I've saw if for the last 5.5 years and you know it.

I haven't lost. Maybe I'm just part of the rational and realistic crowd that has actually worked on improving my own situation instead of relying on the gov't.... ;)

Well good for you. I don't rely on the fucking government and I and a majority have lost. Because "YOU" are better now doesn't mean that the rest of the country (i.e. majority) hasn't lost. I'm as "personally responsible" as anyone in this fucking forum but the fucking direction of the country has been led on a downward spiral by the doucebag in the WH and it's time for that bastard to go. If McCain does indeed win, I pray to God that he doesn't become a Bush Lite as we sure as hell don't need 4 more years of that shit.

Did somebody leak this story to the press. Did McSame hire Nixon's plumbers? You'd think Republicans wouldn't want to mention that word.

Who the hell says we have to follow the past. Write in your vote. It really doesn't matter who wins. If ya want change. Write in vote. If enough of us do it will be a single for change.

Maybe people shouldn't rely on the gov't. You can claim you lost due to the gov't but in reality if you lost - it has less to do with the gov't and more to do with you. But hey, if you need to blame Bush... fine... just don't try to suggest that you are rational.
