so i bought this the other day, and i have to say that it isn't typical tool style. this album is a lot more mellow. anyways, just wondering what everyone thinks who have heard it

Coming from a huge Tool fan, a Maynard fan for that matter, this album just doesn't cut it. There are probably 3 songs I'll listen to off of it and those are just recycled from Lateralus and Aenima.. 🙁

It pains me to say, there's not an original idea on that album whereas all their previous albums offered something new.

Worst of all, lyrically it is abyssmal.

meh, the only good songs on the album are vicariously, 10,000 days, and jambi.

and like platypus said, it's mostly recycled stuff.

I feel so cheated when I go out and buy an album that is full of filler noises. 10,000 days gives me that feeling.

Some of you are pretty messed up. I thought this album was amazing. 10,000 Days and Right in Two are powerful songs.

How is it messed up that we don't like something subjective?

You claim to be a tool fan, do you not hear how recycled the album is?

Vicarious = Schism
Rosetta Stoned = 46 & 2

I hear Ticks and Leeches, Disposition, etc in a lot of the songs too.

Exactly what I thought. Add to that the fact that most people are saying Vicarious is the best song on the new album and I haven't had any desire to listen to any other songs off of the album.

Schism is probably my favorite Tool song, so I caught the resemblence right away.

I can't stand Schism, probably because I've heard it a million times thanks to the crap we call "radio". Lateralus was also my least favorite Tool album.

10,000 Days on the other hand is my favorite Tool album.

Welcome to last month though, there was a long thread about this CD back then.

aenima > lateralus and 10,000 days by a long shot. 10,000 days has 2-3 good songs and the rest seems like its just ambient music.
