if you've never rode before why don't you set aside like 1500 for a bike to learn on, then buy a super sport.

LMAO---if your talking about something for your sole means of transportation, I'd go with a car. No way in hell would I have just a motorcycle to get around on.

You can get a sweet used sport bike for around 2 grand. Get that and a nice little car for around $6-8k. Friend of mine got an 88 Ninja 750R for $2500cdn, (like $1500 US), and it only had 20,000 kilometres on it.
