Federal Income Tax: 12%
Social Security: 6%
Medicare: 1.4%
State Income Tax: 2.8%
State Disability: 1.2%
Benefits (ie: health insurance): 1.3%
401k: 10%
Take home: 65%

There was no surplus they were projected numbers for the next 10 years if the economy did really well. The Economy tanked and then came 911 which hurt even more.

I'm always amused that people think that there will never be another recession even though the next one is right around the corner.

That and the fallacy of the balanced budget are the two biggest frauds pulled on the American People by The clinton regiem.
 
No matter who is elected into the presidency (we get an election this time right?), we're going to pay a buttload of taxes. That won't change. Where do you want your tax money to go? Iraq? Welfare losers? Maybe it's just time for a change.

You pay almost as much for your benies and 401K as you do for Federal Income tax. Doesn't seem to bad to me.
