My Asrock Z97 has a 1 x vertical type a usb connector on the board. I am not all all sure what it's purpose is. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Generally you can use it for lightweight os install for example Freenas, pfsense, Esxi, and such. not the only use but the most common

Other users for it could be for software that uses a usb hardware security key, you would plug it into that and then lock the case and it will not be able to be removed easily
