Looking for some shooters I can play with my friend. Just the two of us. No other yahoos running around. I'm having a hard time thinking of some games that would allow this. Most FPS require you to join a server with others playing on it.

Do I have any other options?

The call of duty games should let you do that when you set up a custom game. You can also add bots if you want. I've been playing black ops 2 every night with bots for over a year. I know I've played a couple 1v1 matches with some of the party modes or what ever they are called. Can't remember if we 1v1 with tdm as we usually add bots.

You can get some of the older COD titles for cheap from cdkeys when they have a sale. Just be sure to get the US or worldwide version as they also have European versions. Newegg has had Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Digital Legacy Edition for $15 a few times and it includes two games. Modern Warfare Remastered and Infinite Warfare.

Most older shooters would allow you to run ai/bots in the background .... either built in, or through modding.

Played a bunch in the old days with Quake 2 and Unreal Tournament in Lans or with small groups, adding bots for some added fun.

L4D ... L4D2 are fun for co-op shooting. License are pretty cheap... Can get for 5 to 10 bucks. Sometimes less on sale...

I just built another system for playing older games to do co-ops myself. Of course there is always the tried and true (unreal) GOTY ... Can have as many players and bots as you want with unlimited maps. There are a few good L4D custom maps that are pretty good.

I've heard that FC4 is pretty good, where you can drop in and play with a co-op on there engine. I have not installed it yet, but it's on my radar for the next go around. I liked FC4, so it should be fun ... Would be cool to get two buzzer helicopters flying around trying to shoot each other down. :)

Speaking for license on steam... anyone know if you can just get one license and share it to play co-op? Or are all buying 2 license required (always)? I've been going the double license route. but... buying 2 license can get expensive for mainstream games just to play co-op once in awhile.
