Hi all,

I currently have 2x WD Black 640gb and 1x WD 500Gb.

The 500gb drive is about 6 years old now so i think it's time to swap it out for a new drive. I think it's a decent idea to get a 1 TB drive so i can keep my Trueimage backups on it as well as other space eating files.

It's been a while sice i've looked at spindle disks so what's the current top of class 1TB drive?

I'd take a look at the Western Digital Green 1TB's, see'ing as how you're already on a WD marathon, why switch from something thats good right? =) I'm running a WD 640GB and a WD Green 1TB and both drives have been flawless since day 1.

I really don't think there is a 'top of class' HD, it still is all a gamble, no matter what brand you pick.
There are lots of stories where brand X has no issues for one person, but same brand is full of issues for another user.

I would buy 2 1TB drives, and rotate the backups, if you want to be safer...

I prefer the Samsung Spinpoint F3.

You could pick up 2 for ~$130 not a bad price at all.
