I don't play games very often - I might fire up something once or twice a year, but that's all. I normally do have a lot of windows open though, and that's where it matters. These are just browser windows, Word, Excel, PDF's, etc. and on OS X, that adds up to a lot of memory because of how it operates.
Currently: 2x 1GB
My choices:
1) 1x 4GB
2) 1x 4GB + 1x1GB
3) 2x 2GB
I want to eventually move up to 8GB, which is why I'd like to stick to option 1 or 2.
First, is option 2 even feasible? Just depends on how picky my system is? (Macbook Pro, 13" Mid 2009) Anyone have experience with this?
Second, between options 1 + 3, for a non gamer, will it matter much?
Third, if I do option 1, and buy another 4GB stick later, will they have trouble being paired up if it's the same brand? Maybe depends on where the chips for it came from? I don't mind it operating at the slower of the 2 latencies.
