1 stick of memory vs. 2 sticks of memory

What are the benefits for having two of the same kind memory sticks vs. 1 stick of the same memory value if any?

As long as the CPU/mobo supports dual channel, then two matching dimms will give you dual channel, which improves performance slightly, in some cases significantly.

what he said but if you're thinking of going 1x1gig or 2x512mb and are running and AMD based system, i'd go for the 1x1gig cause if you end up going to 2 gigs, your 4 512mb sticks will be running at T2 or whatever so that'll reduce performance
