I built a 780i 3way 8800gtx and the card in slot 1 get 20 deg hotter that the other 2. They are danger den water cooled. card 1 will get to 80 deg and 2&3 will only go to 48 at most.
test software list and shows cards working in sli. stress benching or running crysis is where card 1 gets hot. Is there a program that will test bus bandwidth?

If your scores are normal for a 3SLI setup then it's most likely that it's not your mobo. Are you using the lastest drivers?

Since you're on water I assume that the 1st VGA gets water straight from the cpu waterblock, right? What's your cpu model/speed? Have you tried running your cpu @stock just to see whether this will help? Running your cpu @stock ensures that the water that leaves the cpu waterblock will be relatively cooler and this may help.

If that doesn't work you should swap that card with one of the others. I know that since you're on water it is tough to swap cards but this will show whether your problem is related to that one card or not.

Some software, such as ATI Tool, does not support SLI so the first card will be worked hard while the others idle.

Also, try swapping cards (you may have to re-do your tubes). There's a chance that the block on card 1 isn't well seated, causing higher temps.

Aren't all the cards in a CF or SLI set-up supposed to run at the same clock speeds? So unless SLI is disabled I don't see why card 1 would be working all that much hotter than the other 2.
