You'll need to use a CAT 5 CROSSOVER cable.

EDIT:

CAT 5 is a 4 twisted pair cable. And is or is becoming a generic term. You can use a CAT 5E or CAT 6 if you find them.

You can use a COAX patch cable if your NIC's have BNC jacks. But you'll need BNC Tee's and terminator's.

Twisted pair is simpler with less stuff hanging out of the back of the computer.

Be sure you use a patch cable as it will take repeated bending and rebending without cracking the jacket. Cable for installation in walls and above ceilings are fire rated for low smoke and high temp. And will crack the jacket with repeated bending or exposure to sunlight.

Discalmer:
There may be twisted pair cable that is fire rated and sunlight rated and highly flexiable that I have not seen.
If any one know of such a cable PM me the the name of the maker.

Yes a CAT 5 patch cable is a twisted pair cable for connections from a hub or switch or a wall jack to a computer.

A CAT 5 CROSSOVER cable is a twisted pair cable for connecting 2 computers together directly. It has some of the wires crossed. You should be able to get one at a COMPUSA just ask for a Crossover cable. It will be painly marked on the package.

It has pretty much been said but I'll put it all together. ALL cat 5 cables are twisted pair. That is a term discribing the construction of the cable itself. It consists of 4 pairs of wire, each pair twisted together.

Straight or crossover discripes how the CONNECTORS are wired. In the crossover cable the receive pin on one end connector is "crossedover" to connect to the Transmit pin on the other end of the cable.

I am sure this is clear as mud.
good luck
