1 or 2 sticks of ddr2 ram?

My brother wants a gig of ram for his AM2 system. Would it be better to get one 1GB stick or two 512mb sticks? BTW, can anybody recommend a brand that would work with the M2N-E?
 
Kingston ValueRAM. I'm using it and I have the same board as you. My sticks are 2X512MB though.
 
so let me guess this right...you sacrifice running in DDR mode in order to get 1gig of ram so that when you upgrade and need another gig of ram then you will be running in DDR mode......hmmm

I think you are confusing dual channel memory mode with DDR2. One stick will work at DDR2, but since there is only one stick, it can't work in dual channel mode. Personally, I'd buy 2 x 512 to get the dual channel function. Besides, having two sticks makes it easier to troubleshoot memory problems if any should occur.
