1 or 2 DIMMs on a socket 939 mobo...

Does a socket 939 motherboard REQUIRE two DIMMs, or can it use just one? And is there a significant performance gain when using two?

One will work, but from personal experiance having 2 DIMMS for dual-ddr is a good benefit.

I always weigh cost to benefit... And the cost of getting one more DIMM is well worth it for dual channel (matching DIMM, of course).

But yes it will work with one.

there's no point in 939 if you don't use dual channel. get a 754 and you will save on the motherboard and processor if you only use 1 dimm. btw, a 752 3000 is 2.0 GHz. a 939 3000 is 1.8, but same price
