After the cyberwings fiasco, I have moved my domain to www.turnkeyhosting.net . So far everything is great. I am getting everything listed here in plan 2 except for the webspace and bandwidth. I am getting 100MB space and 1GB bandwidth per month for only $1 a month.

Customer service is great. I had instant email and yahoo chat communications. My account was setup in less than an hour.

My $1/month plan is a custom plan and I am sure they will do custom plans based on one's needs. You can email sales@turnkeyhosting.net for more details.

Disclaimer: I have absolutely no vested interest here.

Hm... For that kind of pricing structure, how do they manage to make a profit? Anyways, this sounds "too good to be true" and it seems to be a reseller off of WebReseller.

I would suggest browsing the WebHostingTalk forums for more reliable offers. ;)

BTW, this isn't really a hot deal...

Just my $0.02.

I got this quote from webhostingtalk forums. It is $12/year compared to $3.90/year from cyberwings. At least it is not as "too good to be true" as cyberwings.

I thought instead of waiting for cyberwings to be up, atleast give this thing a try and after all I am only using it for email and personal photos. Also, I am paying only a buck a month. I am not going to loose much anyways if they were to go under.

Any other low cost hosting suggestions, something $20 or less per year? Besides Dixiesys/3-95.

Just found another one for less than $20/month here. Guess there are many companies that provide hosting at this price point. Probably customer service will be the distinguishing feature.

Its hard to believe that they'll make any money on something like that -- hate to see another CW fiasco...

Good luck.

I just signed up with serversonic -- the seem relatively new, but honest and gave me a great hosting deal.

Man, some people just never learn.

Everyone said CyberWings was too good to be true, and it turns out it was. With Web Hosting, as with many other things, you get what you pay for. The truth is all of these companies are buying their bandwidth from the same services, and those companies are incredibly competive with prices.

There are only two ways you can make any money charging $1/month: You count on signing up customers who will never use your bandwidth (thereby costing you little or nothing), OR you cram way too many users on a single server. The latter means very slow web servers.

If you're just screwing around on the Web, then by all means, $1/month is fine. But if you're looking for a site to host your core e-mail, or an important web page, look elsewhere.

Wow 5$ and unlimited bandwidth?? That is awesome! Hmmm. Think how much Yahoo or Ebay could save if they used that service.
Monty you know I hate that creeps like the CEO can get away with scamming people and actualy profit from it. [Even though I hope EVERYONE down to the miniscule $4 account applies for a refund] But then you read comments by people who were taken in just moments after the fact and you realize that the old adage about There's a Sucker Born Every Minute is grossly understated.

Man if I ever intend to scam anyone, it will be pathological bargain hunters.

If you are considering Conesc.com, you might want to take a look at their site map and their order page. They are not yet ready for prime time. Also check their "Reseller Presales FAQ" which states that they are in Malaysia. I was thinking hard about them but these things warned me off.

"Man if I ever intend to scam anyone, it will be pathological bargain hunters." - AirMail1

Truer words were never spoken .... I just about spit beer all over my monitor when I read that.
I've been lurking in these forums for a couple of years and that post alone made me register.
To digress, I had a toy site on Cyberwings that was up for a month and cost me $3.90. I would
say that I got my money's worth.... and the entertainment factor of the CW thread is damn near priceless.
But since I realistically expect zero traffic ... that's nearly what I want to pay for hosting.
Anybody know anything about BSDwebhosting.net? Seems like if it's legit a $5 bill could
stretch a long way ... maybe 2 months this time...

Check out PHPWebHosting. For $9.95 you basically get "unlimited" everything, the speed is great, and they've been a stable service. The interface is a little clunky and beta-like, but full-featured enough. They even will setup SQL db's for you. Good stuff. :)

Any host that offers "unlimited" anything is inherently lying to their customers, and should be avoided.

There are no unlimited size hard drives, and no unlimited internet connections. They are billed for every bit of data that flows through your site, and I guarantee that if you start using more than they have enough income to cover, they absolutely will boot you off.

Plus, and host that would give any one user on a server the ability to fill up the entire HD on the server is acting irresponsibly.

Well, look at it this way. Per their licensing agreement that plan is for personal accounts, may not serve as a file dump, and may not serve for illegal purposes. They also made a valid point that if you aren't using their service for porn or warez you aren't likely to go over any initial limits anyway.

All I can say is I've been happy with them thus far and they seem pretty legit. $9.95 is a bit more than all these dollar hosts, but hell, it's been worth it just for the dozen email accounts I've created from this host.
