Occasionally, when i turn the computer on it gives me one long continuous beep and a red screen. If i reset the computer it usually boots okay.
Occasionally, it will lock in windows also when running programs. No games are run on this machine.
The machine:
Amd K6-3 450
Asus p5a MoBo rev 1007
Diamond viper v330
128mb ram
generic sound card
3com nic
Any ideas? Thanks

That's a bizarre one. Something is going terribly wrong during POST...maybe the video card? As for the locking up, that's just Windows :p

If you have a friend who has a VooDoo 2000 AGP or 3000 AGP ask him to let you borrow it and try it in your system, I had so much trouble with a Diamond Monster Fusion with that chipset it's unreal....always locking up................as far as the beep it could be many things....the memory, the video card or perhaps something in your bios.
