I have a gaming PC and I just bought a Macbook. I want to use the same keyboard and mouse that I've been using for the Mac.

How can I do this without having to dig under the desk every time I switch between the 2 machines?

I figure there must be some USB adapter for this?

Logitech devices with Unifying receivers can accomplish this. If your PC has a front USB port, just simply unplug and plug into your Macbook and it would work fine with no setup - the keyboard and mouse is paired with the receiver.

And you can add any number of different Unifying devices to one Unifying receiver. You have to make the changes in adding devices in the Unifying software; the Logitech Unifying devices can work without having that software installed.

I would also say bluetooth mouses and keyboards, but you have to un-pair and re-pair those devices via software with just as much time (if not more) to switch peripherals from the gaming PC to the Macbook.

I assume what you want is something like Synergy...?

It would be nice, but it must be within a local network domain. If the user wants to use a wireless mouse on the go, this isn't a solution. Unless one unplugs the device from the controlling computer that acts as the KVM which is what I gather what Synergy uses.

Still is possibly more expensive versus a USB extender cord and keyboard/mouse receiver.

Synergy is effectively an automatic software KVM switch. Assuming that's what you're looking for.
