"Half illegally".

At some point we're going to have to take responsibility for the illegal employment vacuum that causes most of it.

LOL it's way more than that... 11 million illegals are here.. that right there is 11% of mexico, or 1 in 10.. not including legals and those we already granted amnesty.. It's more like 1/2.

Or simply close the border down with our military.

Why let the employers off the hook for their illegal activity that's causing the influx? It doesn't make sense to waste the resources of the military to protect our own criminals.

Annexation Of Mexico

or is Mexico annexing us???

Think it is safe to say they are annexing the better part of the extreme SW United States

btw I think the Onion had a funny article a month ago about how Los Angelas was annexed by Mexico. The story went a billboard said the city and all of southern California was taken over by the govt of Mexico. As a result long lines of Mexicans could be seen streaming north towards San Francisco as they found out they were back in Mexico.

The easiest way is to close the border. We have been chasing employers for years and the results speak for themselves.

Immigration is great and required legally. Our open border policy is a drain on our infrastructure and a security hazard.

We've rarely made it a point to go after the employers and make them pay. Most companies don't face stiff penalties for hiring illegals, muchless any penalties at all, which essentially encourages it. Maybe in a couple high profile cases to appease the public, but thats about it. Its not hard to find the companies that hire them as well, particularly in california with all of the farms.

You think closing the border and slowing the influx of illegal immigrants will cost us more or less than leaving the spigit wide open and trying to mop up the flood?

We dont have nearly enough INS agents to deal with the situation. On top of that you need to get tipped off and an investigation opened and money spent to prosecute.

Or we can use our national guard and close the border making it damned tough to get through the border. To me it makes more sense to close off the source of the leak instead of the pool the leak forms.

What give you & I have the right to stop people from migrating? People have been migrated for 10 of thousands of year, and now becasue there is an invisible line in the earth that you call border is going to stop people from traveling/migrating?

European/Asian descendant wouldn't be here if we have this attitude a 100 year ago. Everyone want a better life and nothing going to stop that. . The US want a better life therefore it invade other nations to rob their wealth like the EU a 100 years ago, etc..., and the best defend for the weak is to join the invader/strong.

If you can't beat them, join them.

Its all about the money, which is why firms hire them. As soon as its more costly to hire them than not too, they will modify their business practices.

However its a catch 22 like the smoking issue...do we really want everyone to stop smoking, because the taxes generated are so significant. No more illegals would also have a tremendous economic impact.

Oh yes that is a great attitude, lets also close down our cities and start putting our entire belongings on the back of a mule and roam the earth again. Somehow I think we have progressed to the point that countries with invisible lines are accepted practices.

I guessed incorrectly.

As for immigration there is nothing wrong with coming across those invisible lines legally through the proper channels. We have also progressed to the point where we should really be verifying who is coming across that border and debating if we want them within this invisible border or not.

We are not an entitlement program for the rest of the world.

i know it is all about money and votes. But the easiest way to stop the problem is to stop it at the source.

i am unsure what you mean at stop it at the source...there is a need for this labor, and i am unsure if most american workers (the one's that do physical labor) will want to work from sun up to sun down....even longer....for less than minimum wage. these are jobs that are taken by mexicans out of necesity and striving to give a better future for the one's back home.

Now you're agreeing with me. ;) The source is the vacuum, which is the relentless hiring of illegals. Its the only way that will be effective - there are too many people too desperate for a better life for themselves and their families to do whatever it takes to get in the country.

I think we both agree on the problem but have a difference of opinion on how to deal with it ;)

I am against illegal immigration. With that said. We need a steady supply of cheap labor into the US for a variety of jobs.

Therefore, lets legalize this immigration and get it under control!
