I know this is sort of a repost as it was discussed in the Microsoft thread but this is a new article:

One out of 10 jobs in the U.S. computer services and software industry could shift to lower-cost emerging markets such as India or Russia by the end of 2004, a top computer consultancy said on Tuesday.

Something will replace it.

I'm sure every generation thought the same thing when their current major employment field reached a point where it was no longer cutting edge & got outsourced.

I am surprised the number is that low... then again we just talking "till next year". The Brain-drain is in full swing here at my job. Already a bunch of IBM and HP "contractors" in house. Flown in from India! :(

The future for us Techies looks anything but rosie!
