1 gram of fat is supposed to be about 9 calories right?

You always hear that protein and carbs are 4 calories / gram, and fat is 9 / gram.

There are 453 grams in a pound, so if each gram of fat was 9 calories, wouldn't that mean that every pound of fat was actually 4077 calories?

Or is it that each gram of fat is really only 7.7 calories?

What's the deal?

The fat on your body can't be pure fat. You need water and blood vessels and other support structure for the fat cells. That's why a pound of body fat is approximately 3500 calories or so.

Yeah, basically it takes 3500 calories to gain/lose a pound of weight. Obviously this is just an estimate, and varies with different people.
