1 Gig stick or 2x512 sticks

Which option would be better? I'm replacing my 512 stick and adding a gig to my computer. Is there any differance except price?

2 x 512 MB sticks will perform slightly better, but 1 x 1 GB stick would allow you to add a second 1 GB stick, for better performance in the future, assuming you could find another identical stick.
