1 gig DDR ram question

I will be purchasing a 1 gig stick of ram later today but I wanted to make sure that I got the right type (i.e. high density / low density if this is even still an issue in memory at the PC3200-PC4000 range). I would like to avoid compatibility problems if possible.

The stick that I am considering is 1 Gig DDR PC3200 for an AMD 64 3000+ chip. Is this acceptable or should I be looking at something else.

Thanks,

J

New motherboards don't have problems with low and high densitys anymore so you can forget about that. Personally if it was me I wouldn't buy some no-name memory from a no-name vendor, that's asking for trouble and lost money. I would buy this Mushkin memory instead. Other then that I think you should be set to go.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion; however, that memory is almost double the cost. I'll pay 10-20% premium for good memory as I have in the past for crucial, but not that much. If only crucial still had good deals on memory. The way I figure it, if the memory doesn't do what is claimed, I simply demand my money back. Is there any reason why this is not a good idea (assuming of course that I am not trying to overclock)?

ENET has a pretty lousy Reseller Ratings and a lot of complaints on their memory. The memory you are looking at only has a 1 year free replacement warranty. Caveat Emptor!

Spend a few dollars more and get major brand on a 6 layer board. The last thing you want to do is fight memory-related errors.

Go to Kingston and plug in your board and see what they recommend. Then, shop that model number on the net. You're certain to get memory that is compatable, and you got the best price too.

From the website in question;
NOTE: SOME MAINBOARDS NEED TO DO SPECIAL RE-PROGRAM, OR USE DIFFERENT TYPE DRAM CHIPS. THERE IS EXTRA $45 CHARGE FOR IT. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE YOUR CHIPSET FROM OPTION BELOW. THERE IS 20% RE-STOCKING FEE, IF YOU DON'T CHOOSE YOUR MAINBOARD'S CHIPSET AND CAUSE ANY COMPATIBILITY PROBLEM.
Special re-program? Yeah, right!

I agree, beware! ResellerRatings is your friend.
