I have a question. I just purchased a 1 Gig Athalon Boxed processor from Ubid.com for $209.00. I received it today. What is the difference between an Athalon, and a Thunderbird? This is what I have nowProcessor Speed 1000MHz (1GHz)
Level 2 Cache 256K
ATHLON......... Thank You .. I'll never make the same mistake again.

all socket A Athlons are TBirds
but not all Slot A Athlons are "Classic" Athlons
There are some Slot A TBirds as well.

yes surfhead, if it has 256Kb L2 it's a Tbird 🙂 You might wanna chack you got the right format though, Tbirds comes in both Slot and Socket format

Looks like my K6 III Chip, so it's the right format. Thanks.. I just wanted to make sure I didn't get duped into buying some previous version of the processor. The Box didn't have THUNDERBIRD or T-Bird on it anywhere. So I was thinking that a decent deal wasn't so decent. Thanks Again.
